Friends, I have shared in the past that I was probably at the right age when The Transformers were originally released by Hasbro, back in ’84. It was smart for them to team up with Marvel Comics again – like they had previously with G.I. Joe. Thanks to Jim Shooter, Dennis O’Neil, and to Bob Budiansky most of all – The Transformers is still a thriving franchise with toys still being manufactured for both young fans of the new animated series as well as old timers. In addition after making their mark on toy shelves 36 years ago – we have series of live action films, new comic books, and exceptional video games produced focusing on the war between the Autobots and Deceptions. And now in the very near future it appears that Netflix is releasing Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy: Siege – an original anime series courtesy of Hasbro, Rooster Teeth Animation, and Polygon Pictures. I am absolutely liking what I’m seeing in this trailer for Transformers: War for Cybertron – this was debuted by the way at the New York Toy Fair last weekend.
There is not a whole lot of information to go on as of yet for Transformers: War for Cybertron – the Internet Movie Database page has no information on the cast – although it is reporting that the show is running for two seasons? At the very least I can talk a bit about some things that caught my attention in the trailer – first up is I assume most of the characters featured will be those from Hasbro’s exceptional Transformers: War for Cybertron: Siege line of toys. It certainly appears that the Autobots might be on their back foot in the ages long war with the Decepticons – I couldn’t help but notice that Jetfire is wearing a Decepticon insignia during Megatron’s speech.
While if you blink you might miss it – I believe we see the end of Impactor by something huge – possibly Scorponok – which was announced at the Toy Fair? Besides the awesomeness that is Optimus Prime and Wheeljack, a few other Autobots include Bumblebee, Hound, Chromia, Sideswipe, Ultra Magnus, in addition to Elita-1.
After watching the trailer a couple of times I have a strong suspicion that the first season is going to end with the Autobots having to hightail it off Cybertron – either to keep the AllSpark out of the hands of the Decepticons… or perhaps seek it out? I definitely look forward to catching Transformers: War for Cybertron when it airs on Netflix – perhaps I should do a review of the series?
