Friends, it appears it is a day for writing articles about Batman – I shared that Power Records offering earlier today and now DC Comics has announced that Kevin Conroy is going to do a live reading of Batman: The Adventures Continue on their Instagram page tomorrow morning at 10am Pacific time/ 1pm Eastern time. On this site and elsewhere I have shared how much I love the character of Batman – a lot of that has to do with the comic books and the likes of the Super Friends and the numerous spin-off series on Saturday mornings featuring the Caped Crusader. In addition I was the perfect age when Batman was released in ’89 and I have no qualms admitting that I personally love Michael Keaton’s take on both Bruce Wayne as well as the Dark Knight – even if I know that Christian Bale has done a far better job overall portraying the comic book character in films. Having said all of that though for my money, there is no one who has done a better job portraying the character than Kevin Conroy – thanks of course to the numerous animated series and films – starting with Batman: The Animated Series back in 1992.
From the DC Comics official blog:
“Who better to introduce fans to the world of Batman: The Adventures Continue than the voice of Bruce Wayne (and Batman!) himself! This Thursday, April 9, at 10am PT on DC’s Instagram, Kevin Conroy will dramatically read a chapter from Batman: The Adventures Continue, DC’s new, digital-first comic, written by Alan Burnett and Paul Dini. Conroy originated the role of Batman in the Emmy Award-winning Batman: The Animated Series, which Burnett and Dini both produced, and has portrayed the Dark Knight more times than any other actor.
Download your digital copy of the first chapter before the event and read along, live, with Kevin Conroy this Thursday! Batman: The Adventures Continue Chapter One, written by Alan Burnett and Paul Dini with art by Ty Templeton and color by Monica Kubina, featuring a cover by Dave Johnson, is available now. Batman: The Adventures Continue Chapter Two will hit digital platforms on Wednesday April 15.”
That first issue of Batman: The Adventures Continue is only .99 cents by the way – it looks like the second issue is dropping next week on the 15th.
