Friends, you have probably already been made aware of this but earlier this afternoon, Josh Gad of Frozen and Avenue 5 released a new edition of his YouTube series – Reunited Apart. So far the entertainer has reunited the cast and some of the crew from such films as The Goonies, Back to the Future, Splash, and now The Lord of the Rings. While I realize that some of you might balk at the way I feel about Peter Jackson’s cinematic adaptations of J.R.R. Tolkien’s literary opus – I have to admit that I put them on the same pedestal as Star Wars.
As I understand it, the general focus on Reunited Apart is of pop culture films of the ’80s – from watching this latest video it appears that Gad feels just the same way as I do about The Lord of the Rings films. Hence the reason that for this episode he broke from the usual routine so he could, at least digitally, reunite the Fellowship of the Ring. That includes the likes of Elijah Wood, Billy Boyd, Orlando Bloom, Sean Astin, Sean Bean, Dominic Monaghan, Viggo Mortensen, John Rhys-Davies, and of course Sir Ian McKellen. Oh, did I forget to also mention that Josh Gad was able to also coerce Peter Jackson, Philippa Boyens, Howard Shore, Andy Serkis, Karl Urban, Liv Tyler, as well as Miranda Otto to join in on this episode Reunited Apart?
While I do my level best to attempt and avoid the very real seriousness of our World on this site – which is why we presents articles and podcasts meant to entertain – I have to say it did my heart good to see the majority of the cast of The Lord of the Rings trilogy together again – with that surprise visit by Taika Waititi. All for a worthy cause. In addition I have no issue admitting to you one and all that it seemed like someone was cutting onions next to me when Sean Astin and Elijah Wood reenacted that beautiful scene from The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.
