There Is A Whole Lot Of Love In This Ghostbusters Afterlife Trailer!

3 min read

I believe it was last year that we first started hearing some rumblings about the possibility of a new film in the Ghostbusters franchise – then it was announced that this was quite. Around that time some rather exciting news was released that the Director of this untitled Ghostbusters movie was none other than Jason Reitman – the Director of such films as Juno and The Front Runner. Of course he also happens to be the Son of Ivan Reitman, the original Director of the first two Ghostbusters films – which I will admit made me feel like Ghostbusters: Afterlife was something special. It is a Family thing if that makes sense… and with continuing news about nearly all of the original cast from the first two films returning – this has the possibility of being quite epic. The trailer for Ghostbusters: Afterlife dropped earlier today and I will definitely say I was moved by what I saw – because I have a very strong feeling that this movie in the end is going to be all about Family and legacy. And at least from this first trailer for Ghostbusters: Afterlife it certainly appears as if there is a lot of love and nods to the legacy of the late and great Harold Ramis – who played Dr. Egon Spengler.

The Summer of 2020 will be here far quicker than we know it… but as the last credit rolled for that Ghostbusters: Afterlife trailer it sure felt like it was very far away. I wish my work schedule could have allowed me to get this article out a little sooner – I have not had the opportunity to check online yet but I’m sure there are many Easter eggs that I missed in the trailer. While there is no way you will miss the obvious ones, like Egon’s collection of spores, molds, and fungus – I was interested in the symmetrical book stacking… similar to the Philadelphia mass turbulence of 1947.

In addition I couldn’t help but laugh and clap my hands in excitement at seeing the gunner’s seat on Ecto -1, something I recall reading about before in what I believe was the Ghostbusters role-playing game. I know that it was available on The Real Ghostbusters version of that iconic car but I was thinking it was also possibly a deleted scene? No matter what – it’s awesome to see Phoebe (Mckeena Grace) strapped in and giving what is assuredly her relatives proton pack a go.

It appears to me that a new generation of Ghostbusters are about to step up and take up the burden of protecting the World from supernatural menaces – as well as possibly a whole new generation of kids getting the same thrills and chills that we old-timers did back in ’84.
