What Do You…Doo…When Shaggy And Scooby Are Your Checkout Attendant?

Friends, for over 50 years there have been numerous and talented actors who have lent their voices to the animated characters of Shaggy Rogers and Scooby-Doo – beginning in 1969 with Casey Kasem (The Transformers, Super Friends) as Shaggy and Scooby-Doo voiced by Don Messick (Jonny Quest, The Smurfs). Since that time Shaggy has had the likes of Billy West (Futurama), Scott Innes, Scott Menville (Captain Planet and the Planeteers), and Matthew Lillard having the honors of voicing the character – with the latter even portraying Shaggy in the two live action films from back in the early ’00s. In fact thanks to this video provided by the A.V. Club from back on March 5th of 2018 – you can hear for yourself how Lillard originally was able to do the voice of the character.

While Don Messick might be best known for the role of the iconic animated great Dane we all known and love – the truth of the matter is Scott Innes also did voice work for the character of Scooby-Doo. As did Hadley Kay (The Carebears Movie) with Neil Fanning providing the vocal work for the CGI animated version of Scoob in the live action films. It is another voice actor, who like Messick is a legend in the field that is currently voicing Scooby-Doo – and that is Frank Welker (The Transfomers, G.I. Joe, The Simpsons) who also has played Mystery Inc.’s Fred Jones since 1969!

Now to get to the true point of the article, as uploaded on Jeff Twombly’s YouTube channel, a checkout attendant by the name of Brandon – while working at Walmart proves he has a uncanny ability to mimic the voices of both Norville “Shaggy” Rogers as well as Scooby-Doo. I am going to assume that the young man rightfully sees nothing wrong with trying to brighten the day of those he interacts with and I know that I personally found a grin spreading on my face while watching the short video.

I truly hope Brandon wasn’t given any grief over this recorded interaction because in all honesty – don’t we all need a couple of more reasons to smile throughout the day? I guess the real judge of the impersonation rests with none other than Scooby-Doo – so what do you think of Brandon’s voice work?
