Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace Wave 2 (1999)

Star WarsReleased at the same time as waves one and three, the second wave of Phantom Menace figures included two of the very best new toys in the series – and it’s hardly a coincidence that those two were among the first three that I picked up at midnight on May 3rd. Naboo pilot Ric Oliè and Senator Palpatine – along with the suspiciously similar-sounding Darth Sidious – were included in wave two, but the real stars of this batch were Watto, with his incredibly detailed and well-painted sculpt, and the equally delicate paint job on the “naked” C-3PO.

My biggest single gripe with this wave is Darth Sidious. Maybe it’s just the mold on my figure and nobody else’s, but I can’t get the little Sith dude to stand up straight without hitting the floor. Am I the only one with this problem?
